We hope you enjoy our video!

Matter Mixtures!

We learned that some kinds of matter are mixtures of other kinds of matter, and sometimes, we can break them back down into their original parts.

Place Value Game Time!

In math, we've been learning about digits, and how their value changes in larger numbers according to their place.  We've used our iPads, but sometimes, old-fashioned games are fun, too!

What's the Matter?

This week, we talked about the three states of matter.
We learned that the particles that make up gases, liquids, and solids behave in different ways.

The particles in solids are close together and move so slowly you could never tell that they're moving.

The particles in liquids are still pretty close together, but they can move freely.

The particles in gases are not close together, and they expand to fill up the space they're in.

Did you know everything that takes up space, everything in the whole universe, is made of matter?  We thought it was pretty cool.

We also liked eating the left-over Fruit Loops!

Welcome!

We have many exciting things going on in the lab!

Kindergarten students are learning to use multimedia tools to express their ideas.  We've just started learning Wixie, a presentation program, and we will continue through to the end of the year.

First and second grade children are continuing to use what they've learned in Wixie, and they are creating presentations to show what they're learning in science and social studies.  We'll continue with this through the rest of the year, and review keyboarding, as well.

Third grade students have been researching and writing an essay about an animal they have chosen.  They're working toward having a final, typed product to bring home.

Fourth and fifth grade students have spent this nine weeks learning iMovie and creating an original product.  The final nine weeks, we'll be wrapping up iMovie and focusing on digital citizenship.
